A Minecraft Movie was fun to watch thanks to its actors. I’m not sure what I watched to be honest. It’s basically The Super Mario Bros. Movie meets Jumanji.
Starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Sebastian Hansen, it makes sense why the professionals hated it, and the audience loved it.
Momoa and Black are basically playing themselves, but with different names, and that’s what saves this movie essentially. I acknowledge that this movie isn’t exactly for me. I’ve never played Minecraft and never been interested. But I still see the appeal. While it might be slightly shrieky, this videogame adaptation, with its bright, buzzy palate and merry band of misfits, is a goofy way to pass time.
Does any part of the story make sense? Not at all. Is anything realistic? Definitely not. But to be honest, this is a movie about a videogame. It was never meant to be. I was laughing hard in some scenes, and cringing hard at others. But all in all, I had fun watching this movie and I would recommend it to anyone under forty, once. Just watch it once for a good silly laugh. Don’t bother with it any more.
And the puppy!

It’s a surprisingly fun film that kids and teens will love, especially if you played the game. Full of in-game references and phrases, visually, this is an interesting experience.
