Ghosted [2023] – Chris Evans, Ana de Armas

Ghosted [2023]

Ghosted on Apple TV+ deserves to be ghosted. A barely serviceable globetrotting romcom that can be tolerated thanks to its cameos.

Ghosted has some entertaining parts, but the base plot, of a man flying across the Atlantic after one date, is too farfetched even for an action movie. If you can classify it as an action movie.

Starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, the movie lacks any romantic storyline. Both Evans and de Armas are beautiful people, and they do have chemistry. But while the movie shows that in spades, it also shows a large degree of argumentative sexual tension between the two. At the end, I wondered why these two stay together. The storyline made no sense. And it never felt like they’re a couple, or like they should be.

A great movie should be more than the sum of its parts, and a good movie should be an entertaining sum of its parts. What we have here is a production that barely has any entertaining parts. The romance is missing, the action is extremely limited and, honestly, not up to par with the competition.

My one-star review is equally divided between the cameos and Chris Evans’ cuteness.

Should you watch it?

It’s a sad day when the best part of a movie is the cameos. Even though they made no sense, they were the best part of this trainwreck.

Where can I watch it?

You can stream Ghosted exclusively on Apple TV+.
