Hamilton is worth watching twice, at least. Once in real life. And the second time on Disney Plus.
It doesn’t matter what I say about Hamilton, the people have already spoken. However, after much delays thanks to the pandemic, I finally had the chance to see it live during “Broadway across Canada” tour in Vancouver, and I have to say: I’m impressed.
Yes, I didn’t get to see the original cast in person, but the show is very engaging and fun. Written by and starring Lin-Manuel Miranda (in the original version), Hamilton mixes the history of the founding of the USA with modern day societal issues and concerns.
Miranda nails almost every single minute of the show. Including rapping. However, not all the cast members do.
After watching the play live, I went on to Disney+ and saw the original filmed version. Thankfully, it’s way better. All the actors are suited for their roles. It felt more organic, and fast.
However, I must highlight my favorite (sorry everyone else). Jonathan Groff plays King George. Yes, he has a limited role with only two appearances across the whole thing, but his “You’ll be back” performance has been stuck in my head ever since the first time I heard it. And no, I’m not bored.
Should you watch it?
Hamilton is long with an intermission. However, it shouldn’t hinder you from watching a piece of cultural history mixed with great tracks.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream Hamilton, The Musical exclusively Disney Plus everywhere.
