Jerry and Marge Go Large [2022] – Bryan Cranston, Annette Bening

Jerry and Marge Go Large

Jerry and Marge Go Large on Paramount Plus is a fun movie that could have been even better. But, instead of investing in its tremendously talented stars and outlandish fact-based story, it gambles on a pile of clichés.

While it is not a movie that will rock your world or even that you will think about long after it is over, it most certainly is a pleasant watch. Jerry and Marge Go Large is the very definition of mainstream, with a crowd-pleasing story, harmless humor, and an ending that’s warm, fuzzy, and wrapped up with a tidy bow. The film is bland, but it mostly succeeds for what it is.

Starring Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening, it is an incredibly fun film to watch, from the premise to the cast. Even when it dives deep into the cliche land, it’s still a fun watch.

On the other hand, there is a nice emotional undercurrent to the movie as Jerry comes to understand that while mathematics is easy, human beings are complex. This movie reminds us that people are not just numbers. Cranston and Bening will go down as two of the best actors of their generation, and it’s a treat to see them play off each other so well.

Should you watch it?

Movies that qualify as human-interest stories only work when, well, the humans are interesting, and that proves to be case here. A bit slow and a bit stale, the movie could have been better by playing less safe.
