Another light and funny slapstick movie, Red Notice is fun to watch thanks to its cast. Not anything else.
To be honest, it’s not a bad movie per-se, but Red Notice‘s big budget and A-list cast add up to a slickly competent action comedy whose gaudy ingredients only make the result more disappointing. Sadly, it gave Netflix its biggest opening day and viewers are already asking for a sequel.
So, what went wrong? You’d imagine that putting 3 A-List actors like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in a movie should give you a good result? Guess again.
Frankly, the movie hits all the notes of an action-comedy blockbuster, but each note rings just a bit out of tune. Plus, as those false notes pile up, things get dissonant and flat at the same time.
The only redeeming quality might be some entertaining moment. Thanks to its leads, it might be almost enough to give it a pass. Sadly, is no originality whatsoever.
Netflix’s loans should have been used somewhere else.
Should you watch it?
It might be a heist movie, but in the end, the most valuable thing stolen might be your time. Red Notice is barely worth the background noise of a house errand. Sorry Mr Reynolds.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream Red Notice exclusively on Netflix.
