Ron’s Gone Wrong is light-hearted family fun with cute characters, silly humor, and a heartwarming story.
Let’s get straight to the point. The movie producers used a kid friendly vessel to illustrate a timely point of view. It isn’t the first animated movie to confront technology creep, but in terms of striking an entertaining balance between humor and heart, Ron’s Gone Wrong gets it right.
The movie is easy to watch, funny, with a surprisingly deep plot. Plus, it helps when you riff off Apple, Amazon and Google and their hunger for data for the sake of profit. Treating this subject can be hard. The script serves up some sharp commentary about the harmful effects of social media and the less-than-noble intentions of globe-covering computer conglomerates.
Thankfully, the movie doesn’t try to overcomplicate things and tells a simple story with some gorgeous animation, a catchy soundtrack, and a great screenplay with some seriously hilarious moments. Some of these moments gave me happy flashbacks to Baymax from Big Hero 6 and Wall-E. I guess Disney’s influence on 20th Century Studios is already showing results.
In conclusion, this movie has quality animation, with a surprisingly strong story that is emotionally satisfying. It’s a funny, likeable, and very 2021 movie that has something to say about how we raise our children. Adults should enjoy the satirical aspects of all this, but children, too, will benefit from the film’s irreverent attitude to big tech and its overlords.

Ron’s Gone Wrong is a fun wholesome animation that plays to the strength of Wall-E and Big Hero 6 while throwing subtle punches at tech giants.
