Shotgun Wedding [2022] – Jennifer Lopez, Josh Duhamel, Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Coolidge

Shotgun Wedding has an exceptionally good reason for putting Jennifer Coolidge at the center of its marketing campaign. She saved the movie from being a total disaster.

The movie is anchored by two actors and that’s it: Jennifer Lopez & Jennifer Coolidge. The romcom is excellent for JLo & Coolidge lovers. As for the rest, if you are full of patience, the nonsense gives you a couple of laughs and that’s as far as it goes.

In fact, Jennifer Coolidge’s White Lotus has shown us we love seeing rich people in turmoil in exotic locales – this film does that too, just with a higher body count. To be honest, the movie starts slow and boring and gets entertaining only during the third act. Lopez transitions from Rom-Com Queen to her Fighter mode. It just takes too long to get there. The movie would have fared better if it focused on the romantic portions rather than action gimmicks.

Finally, Lopez has never been funnier, and the over-the-top comedy is a great start to the moviegoing year. Imagine this. Coolidge holding a machine gun and firing it left and right. Perfection.

Should you watch it?

Did I laugh? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I watch it again? Definitely not. Maybe just the last part with Coolidge and a shotgun.
