The 355
The 355 is a surprisingly solid movie if you’re looking for a fun thriller. A great cast and lots of action.
Let’s get one thing straight: Everyone has seen an un-realistic action thriller. The 355 is no different. However, this movie answers the question of what happens you put Charlie’s Angels on steroids and mix them with Ocean 8. Remember those movies? Female power all the way!
Don’t expect it to tickle your brain. Yes, director Simon Kinberg managed to keep me entertained with lots of twists an turns. Just when you think you know what’s going on, you don’t. What The 355 offers up is a perfect Saturday afternoon movie starring five women with six Oscar nominations and two wins between them.
However, the incredible cast of powerhouse actresses from around the world have been given a bland, formulaic script unbefitting of their talent. The script is overplotted and underwritten, if that’s even a thing. Too many twists and turns with very few actions scenes to make us care for the fate of any of the actors. There’s too much running around instead of getting straight to the point.
The movie has all the potential of being unchallenging escapist entertainment, but it’s all too familiar to distinguish itself.
Should you watch it?
First time I saw the trailer of The 355 in theater, I wasn’t really sold. To my surprise, the movie manages to hide a lot of twists and turns.
