Colin from Accounts – Season One [2022] on CBC Gem

Colin from Accounts is a great Australian comedy series. However, Is it worth the 100% on Rotten Tomatoes? Not sure.

On paper, it’s a predictable show and material. But like the best romantic comedies, the chemistry between Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer and the particularities they bring to their characters elevate the whole thing.

In fact, there’s a lot of messy behavior and raunchy humor here. Boob flashing, d*** pics, and an age gap. And thankfully, the show is very smart about the way it addresses all of it. The series generates warmth out of awkward strangers. The eight-episodes touche all the bases of the traditional romantic comedy, yet it never feels musty. Brimming with life and honesty, it’s also very funny.

Not every joke works, but there are so many of them that it doesn’t matter. The worst thing about this show is its premise, but the best thing about it is almost everything else. All in all, this show is a great blend of comedy and drama.

Should You Watch It?

Collin from Accounts is a wonderful and hilarious romantic comedy that rightly puts a twist here and there on the conventions of the genre, to build something essential for lovers of this type of fiction. Some might not get the australian humor, but that doesn’t prevent you from enjoying it.
