LOOT is…consistent. In season two, the relationships between the characters are growing, which is great, but the show is just not as funny as it should be, and that’s always disappointing.
Let’s get straight to it. Loot is great! Even with the second season, the show keeps getting better. However, there’s a LOT of untapped comedy potential that just keeps sliding under.
In the first season, we got introduced to everyone, including Rudolph’s character getting over a nasty divorce, and learning about herself.
While Loot has become more of an ensemble with its second outing, there is still no confusion about who the center of the storm is though. Rudolph’s colorful and textured performance is given more room to breathe in the second season. Yes, it takes several episodes for the second season to gain momentum, Rudolph and her unyielding wacky charm keep the series chugging away. Even when it shouldn’t.
If the show had the courage to invest a little bit more in Molly’s money-losing mission and a little bit less on easy sitcom stereotypes, then its stock would rapidly rise. For now, though it’s a reliable fund of cheap laughs.
Should You Watch It?
Loot is refreshing and fun. Yes, it does meander into being preachy at times, but it is forgivable. Overall, it’s entertaining and a good laugh.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream both seasons of Loot exclusively on Apple TV+.
