God of Mischief is back. And this time, Marvel Studio’s Loki puts Loki Laufeyson on trial. A trial with the glorious purpose of moving the MCU forward.
With the Disney Plus show, we get to see what motivates Loki, not just his actions. And it’s not about our MCU Loki starting with the New York battle of the first Avengers movie. Marvel Studios takes us on a wild ride revolving around free will, personal gains and motivations, as well as introducing new characters to the MCU.
We get to see Tom Hiddleston at his best. Playing reprising his role as Loki, he also gets to play multiple versions (or variants, as the show calls them) of himself. Variant Lokis were great to watch.
From an egomaniac President Loki to Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki. Yes people! We get to see an alligator Loki. As a side note, dear Disney, I need alligator Loki as a stuffed animal. Thanks.
In addition, Disney delivers a “special” variant of Loki, Sylvie. In the MCU, Sylvie is a hybrid of the comics version of Lady Loki and Enchantress. #NoSpoilers.
Owen Wilson as Mobius M Mobius is pure gold. Even when he’s being serious, he’s fun to watch. He delivers his characters purpose and comedy with such ease. As for the other standout character, meet Miss Minutes, voiced by Tara Strong. With her southern accent and appearance across the show, you can’t but fall in love with her. Miss Minutes is the TVAs AI (or not 😉 ). He’s also the mascot, the assistant, as well as, in some cases, a co-conspirator.
To be honest, you can find things that aren’t great about the show. However, the show is definitely the best Marvel Studios show so far out of the three we saw. The ending is just too satisfying and sets up for a gigantic MCU milestone.
One last thing, keep an eye for the mid-credit scene in the season finale!
Should you watch it?
Marvel Studio’s Loki is a must watch for any MCU fan. Even if you’re not a fan of Loki himself, you’ll get a crash course on MCU time travel, and multiverse rules. Which you’ll need for most Marvel Studios movies starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness if not earlier.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream Marvel Studio’s Loki exclusively on Disney Plus.
