Pam & Tommy could have benefited for some fact checking with Pam or Tommy, but the writing and cast surprise even the most skeptical with a great show, personal events aside.
Let’s make something clear, the real Pamela Anderson wasn’t involved in this show and she’s clearly not happy with it. And that’s totally understandable. She’s going to be telling her story in a Netflix documentary soon.
However, we have to give due to the people behind Pam & Tommy. I don’t know much about Tommy Lee, so can’t really judge Sebastian Stan‘s portrayal, but what I know is that I ended up switching between loving him and hating him at the same time for how he treated Lily James‘ Pamela Anderson throughout the show. Which means, he did a great job.
On the other hand, Jame’s portrayal of Anderson was unbelievable, in every good sense of the world. She became Pamela Anderson in this show. From the look, to the accent and mannerism. The fantasy was full on.
Personally, I don’t know much about the events portrayed in the show, but after doing some research, I fell really bad for how Pamela Anderson was treated by Hollywood, and basically any person with a dick. If that tape was leaked (or stolen) in 2022, she’d be celebrated, a reality TV show, a book deal, and much more. But because it happened in the late 90s, she was treated as a slut with absolutely no rights.
Should you watch it?
What makes things extra bad, is that Pamela was trying to get out of the over sexualized role in Baywatch to become a serious actress. Instead, thanks to Tommy’s aggressive personality, the leak of the sex tape, and the sexist Hollywood industry, she became the joke of the town.
I love you Pamela Anderson and thank you for keeping me company in the 90s. We don’t deserve you. You should have conquered the world.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream Pam & Tommy exclusively on Hulu in USA and on Disney+ everywhere else.
