Race Against The Tide season two is probably one of the nicest and best reality tv competitions out there. CBC has done it again.
At the height of the pandemic, CBC brought us a new kind of Canadian reality tv shows with the first season of Race Against the Tide. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but it was captivating (for the geek in me at least) to finally watch a reality tv series that’s not over produced, and it’s not about Drag, Dating or sex.
With ten episodes, you get great teams competing to build sand sculptures. Yes, there’s a sense of competition, but it’s not as cutthroat as you would imagine. The typical “Canadians are nice” is embedded in this show. With season two, we get a new presenter and a new judge.
To be honest, I don’t know anything about Maestro Fresh Wes, the new presenter. At first, it took some time to get into his style, but at the end, I can’t imagine the show moving forward without him.
Should you watch it?
If you enjoy heartfelt and new kinds of reality tv competitions, this show is a must watch. Everyone is tired from the same dating and drag competitions. We all need new kinds of shows, and this is one of the best.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream the first and second seasons of Race Against the Tide free on CBC Gem.
