With its third outing, Reacher gets even better. This time it’s not about the body count as much as personal connections.
Alan Ritchson proves once again that he is Reacher. He’s back bigger than ever, and we get to see all the layers. Especially when he’s not wearing any. Season three is excellent, curtesy of a gripping high-stakes mission, outstanding action and even more dry humour from the man mountain.
However, here’s a tonal shift in this season’s raison d’etre…the endgame here is and always is killing a man, similar to the first two seasons. And to achieve it, a lot of other people end up dead…buckle up for some justice, complete with vigilante beat-downs and dead-pan quips.
Thankfully, this season spends almost all of its time firmly in the present with only one episode lost in Reacher’s memories, revealing his motive for trading quid pro quo with the DEA in the first place.
This season was extremely fun to watch, even with the one episode a week formant. It’s is a great continuation, maybe a slight step up.
On a final note, I would have prefered prime to shorten the release window, to get us even more engaged.
Should You Watch It?
Once again, guns, explosions, and pummeling fill action with enough bodies to fill a cemetery, but joined by warm, fuzzy moments that appeal to everyone. Reacher is here to stay.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream Reacher exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
