Shrinking – Season One [2023]

Shrinking

Shrinking was an extremely pleasant surprise that I didn’t expect to enjoy. Ted Lasso meets Dollface wrapped in extra sarcasm.

This is a show with an amazing cast that will make you laugh, cry, and think. It tackles topics like grief, depression, addiction, and relationships with humor and sensitivity. Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein (yes, our favorite angry guy from Ted Lasso) have created something genuinely touching in this Apple original show. Shrinking brings together Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, in a psychological comedy with pathos by the pound.

Personally, I would have never imagined Ford as a dark and sarcastic shrink with no filters with his friends. That’s exactly how my friends see me! Minus the shrink part 😂. I loved him as Paul. However, what made this show extra special for me weren’t the two main characters. In fact, Jessica Williams & Luke Tennie as Gaby and Sean won my heart. They owned their characters through and through while making laugh hard.

Shrinking really is therapeutic. Thoughtful, supremely entertaining, well-cast and well-crafted — and an engaging and easy watch. Sarcastic Harrison Ford is the best especially when faced with Williams‘ Gaby.
