Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi [2022]

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is Star Wars at its best, even when it’s recycling the same old characters and filling the gaps between the movies. Darth Vader is always welcomed on my screens.

Even if you’re not a die hard fan of Star Wars, like myself, you can appreciate Ewan McGregor‘s Obi-Wan and his character’s central role in the Skywalker saga. So it was natural for me to get excited about the announcement of this show.

Fast forward to the finale, and I can say that I’m… not disappointed. Finally, director Deborah Chow delivers a Star Wars series that doesn’t put me to sleep. Yes, some episodes are slow, and the story is very focused, but the show is never boring. Even with the limited appearance of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader & Anakin Skywalker, the show strikes the right balance between relying on the original movies, and extending the story.

After the disaster that was Boba Fett’s series, and the extremely slow pace of The Mandalorian, and against all odds, this show gave me hope that Star Wars could be revived. It’s very refreshing.

In addition, that final episodes was worth the slow start and the build up. Yes, there were obvious writing and production mistakes, like Obi-Wan escaping the fortress. That was stupid to be honest. But at the end, I can safely say that it’s the best Star Wars series on Disney+ so far. Can’t wait for the not-so-surprising announcement for season 2.

I really liked the focus on needing to heal, on love, on friendship, on the generosity of strangers, and on the responsibility on in relation to the fate of Anakin Skywalker. May the Force be with you.
