Waco, the series, will offend some people. However, its facts-based approach is what makes it special and worth it.
I’m not old enough to remember the events of the tragedy. However, this Paramount Network is a powerful retelling of a tragedy with a deeply impressive cast. Starring Michael Shannon & Taylor Kitsch, the show will leave you questioning everything: You’ll question the ATF story. You’ll question the FBI story. And you’re certainly going to question the Branch Davidian story.
But politic aside, it’s a sad story about the wrong decisions at the wrong time, and a huge cover-up from all parties involved. Waco wastes no time getting to the point. It’s about grownups making decision that end up killing children. There’s no way around that fact.
However, all of this is interesting, to be sure. But for me, the most fascinating aspect of this story is Koresh’s rise as a cult leader and the events that led so many people to abandon their lives and possessions to be in his presence was what happened before the siege. Sadly, this is not shown in this series.
Should you watch it?
An incredibly sad story, but a very well-made series. It’s a tough thing to watch, but you watch for the incredible performances. Waco is a must-watch if you’re interested in true stories.
Where can I watch it?
