Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Season Three [2025] on Paramount Plus

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Season 3) - Paramount Plus Canada July 2025

With the third outing, Strange New Worlds still has everything the discerning Trekkie could want. Epic interstellar battles, dodgy yellow knitwear and alien races with pointy plastic ears that look like they might go warp factor nine near an open flame.

Eventhough it’s not the best season, or the one with the highest stakes, season three of Strange New World manages the balance of episodic storytelling and a continuing narrative.

Yes, we already know how the show is going to end, it’s a prequel after all. Even the gimmicky episodes are great in this season. They give us, the viewers, such lovely characters, played by these compelling actors who just capture the screen.

Strange New World season three is still a show that continues to uphold the ideals of its franchise’s point of origin, even as its swings boldly go nowhere all that deep. And that’s my only feedback here. While the first season set up the characters and expanded Captain Christopher Pike’s universe from the original series’ pilot, the second season gave us backstories, reasons for each character’s existence, as well as the introduction of iconic ones.

What did this season do for the overarching storyline? Nothing to be honest. With one season and a couple more episodes left, SNW has a lot of heavy lifting to push the timeline all the way to Star Trek’s original series timeline.

Alex Kurtzman seems to know what he’s doing. However, SNW raised the bar for what a modern Star Trek show can be. I hope they keep it up all the way to the end. And let’s push the envelope a little more.
