Fantastic Four: First Steps is the best movie from Marvel Studios over the past two years. Plus, it’s the most comics accurate movie ever made probably.
Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, First Steps is a self contained movie with some of the best scenes taken straight out of the comics. Director Matt Shakman almost achieved what seemed impossible: A great cinematic artwork for Marvel’s first family.
We all know their story, but in case you’re a casual viewer, Shakman made sure to sail thru it in the first 5 minutes, while also giving us some originl easter eggs from their first appearance in the comics. Something we never got in any of the five movies that got made.
Aside from the hype, First Steps is a self contained movie and an homade to Jack Kirby. You don’t need to know anything about the Multiverse, or Marvel, or anything else to enjoy it. From start to finish, I was hooked watching this Fantastic Four MCU debut.
Marvel’s first family finally got its proper debut. Yes, the movie has its very very minor flaws. But between accurate family dynamics, great CGI, a stunning Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) and a glorious Galactus (Ralph Ineson), I can forgive any minor issues. Thankfully, he’s not a cloud.
I can’t wait for the foursome to show up again in Avengers: Doomsday next year!
Should You Watch It?
The best Fantastic Four movie so far, and the best Marvel Studios movie in over two years. Very comics accurate, with Sue Storm at its heart. The way it should be.
Where Can I Watch It?
