Crime 101 [2026] - Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry

Crime 101 doesn’t reinvent the heist movie but plays it with style and conviction. Strong performances and tight set pieces outweigh familiar beats in this polished neo-noir throwback.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, and Barry Keoghan, this heist film relies on its A-List cast for a lot of the heavy lifting to make it palpable.

Set in a weird version of LA where you can easily drive over 30 miles/h on empty roads, the film is a suspenseful thriller that doesn’t always have credible scenarios but has credible characters. Hemsworth delivers a worthy performance, Ruffalo is his typical overlooked detective, Berry is a woman ready for a change, and I’m not exactly sure what Keoghan is there for. The movie’s story about jewelry heists doesn’t just focus on cops and robbers but also has the perspective of an insurance agent.

To be honest, the film is very slickly shot and edited. Over its runtime, this thriller twists multiple strands to build tension as a climactic heist approaches. However, it needed more. While it felt like watching a mid-1990s heist movie, Crime 101 misses the je-ne-sais-quoi that made those movies fun to watch.

All in all, the ponderous pace and lack of focus pull it down. It took me a minute to understand the twists and ending for each character. Satisfying? for some. Does it make sense? Mostly not.

Should you watch it?

Sleek, controlled and proudly derivative, the film is entertaining and will evaporate the minute that the lights come on. The acting is terrific. Everything looks sumptuous. It just takes too long to reach its destination

Where can I watch it?
