G20 [2025] - Viola Davis, Ramón Rodríguez, Antony Starr

G20 proves that Amazon’s rush to spit out weekly movies needs to be stopped before it makes a bigger mess. Netflix already tried that.

Starring Viola Davis & Antony Starr , G20 is a low budget mess. A mish-mash of every movie about saving a US president, with the budget of a single episode of How To Get Away With Murder.

This predictable, subtlety-free, but occasionally fun “world-order-is-under-attack” fable is essentially Cape Town Has Fallen, but with Davis as an uncompromising, but liberal-leaning US President and Ramon Rodriguez standing in for Gerard Butler. Oh, and with half its budget.

What was Amazon thinking? They already tried their hand at action and thriller movies and series, and their batting rate is under 30%.

Long story short: is G20 good? Not really. Is it fun? Kinda-sorta-sometimes, in a plane movie, no thoughts, head empty, smooth brain way. Davis always delivers (Case in point the last Hunger Games). She exudes authenticity—a ferocious toughness without ever seeming superhuman—and in G20 she’s the only real thing in a movie that’s hopelessly phony.

Should You Watch It?

Viola Davis & Antony Starr deserve better than this low budget slop fest clone of every single movie that involves a US president.
