M3GAN 2.0 had the impossible task of picking up after the original movie. People might hate it, but this sequel just works!

Our favorite creepy doll is back in a campy thriller comedy about AI. Sounds like current events? Right? So why did the film do badly with critics? That would be the question of the decade.

If a reformed, killer robot back to protect its young charge sounds familiar, that would be because this narrative shares a lot of similarities with ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day.’, and I’m okay with that. I was laughing out loud in the first movie, and I was laughing out loud in this one. It’s entertaining sequel to a surprisingly popular thriller.

Admittedly, it’s not the same genre of thriller as the original, but this sequel expands on the universe with current stories, evolves the main character, and makes a stance on AI. What more could you ask for?

Did we need a sequel to M3GAN? No. Am I glad that this creative team took the gamble with 2.0? Hell yeah! Do we need another sequel? Please, no. It is always better to end on a high note and not try another gamble with an uncertain outcome.

Should You Watch It?

M3GAN 2.0 does away with the scares and amps up the laughs, pivoting the movie from its creepy roots to whimsical, over-the-top action-comedy. It’s an unexpected but brilliant move for the series.
