Film: Mercy [2026] – Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson

Mercy [2026] - Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson

Mercy is a weird mix of interesting story, annoying editing, and a totally forgettable execution. Too bad.

Starring Chris Pratt & Rebecca Ferguson, the film takes a great and modern idea, and executes it like in a low budget 1970s film. Don’t get me wrong, the VR effects are great, especially from Pratt’s perspective. But that’s pretty much it.

First, and you won’t hear me saying that ever again, kudos to Pratt. He manages to convey the constant stress and confusion of confinement, and Ferguson, though initially appearing robotic, at one-point attempts to reveal a glimmer of humanity.

Now to the bad side. I get that the film is supposed to happen in the future, but a hover police ride that looks it was drawn by 6 years old? really? And all the CGI around it?

Honestly, the film looks like it was made by two different teams. The Pratt team with all the budget and amazing effects, and the “other” team with the 1970s B Movie effects.

All in all, it’s a cute fast paced movie that I would never watch again.

Mercy – Official Trailer
Should you watch it?

It’s almost designed to be totally forgotten within in a month, but it’s brisk and action-packed and, despite the fact that its hero is strapped to a chair for much of its runtime, the film itself never sits still.

Where can I watch it?

Mercy is now playing in theaters.
