High Potential - Season One [2024] on Hulu / Disney Plus

High Potential was a pleasant surprise recommended by a friend. Binged the first season in a single day. Kaitlin Olson is amazing!

Inspirate by a French show called HPI (Haut Potentiel Intellectuel), the show follows an almost-single mom of three with a 160 IQ that has never really helped her in her everyday life.

Kaitlin Olson is starring and producing the show, and it shows. Honestly, without her amazing charm and charisma, the show doesn’t work. It becomes another bland US buddy-cop show. And this one isn’t.

The premise is simple yet effective, Morgan (Olson’s character) is hired as a major crimes’ consultant. The unique setting allows her to deliver heart and comedy to the series, as High Potential encourages her intelligence in spotting things other people cannot while still having her learn what it means to go about things in a legal fashion. Think Legally Blond meets Bones.

It’s a balancing act that would trip up lesser actors, but one Olson takes on without breaking a visible sweat. For as solid as High Potential is overall, it still wouldn’t be realizing half its own potential without her.

I’m already watching the second season! Review coming soon.

Should You Watch It?

It’s the familiarity of the format that forms the foundation of success here. Layer on to that snappy and well-timed humor… and even the occasionally telegraphed plot points can be forgiven.

Where Can I Watch It?

You can stream High Potential on Disney+ everywhere.
