Film: Disney Pixar’s Hoppers [2026] – Piper Curda, Jon Hamm

Simply, Hoppers is Pixar’s best movie in a while. Funny, meaningful, with lots of heart. It works for both children and adults and happily manages to be more than just “an animated version of ‘Avatar’ with animals instead of blue aliens.”

Starring Piper Curda & Jon Hamm, the film manages to be a better Avatar, than Avatar. Yes, the main audience is kids and teenagers, but the film features an emotional depth that is clearly aimed at older audience members and might even result in small amounts of crying from all ages.

It’s no secret that Pixar has been suffering recently. Remember Elio? or even Dream Productions? Honestly, other than Inside Out 2, Pixar hasn’t been remotely good recently. Thankfully, Hoppers looks like it’s breaking that streak.

We all live together and share this world. A simple premise driven by adorable beavers that will certainly be monetized in plushies by Disney. As much as I can see how this film was created for the parks, I honestly enjoyed the animation, and the story.

I wasn’t bored, smiled, laughed, and felt all the emotions. Those are the things you should feel watching a Pixar film, and Hoppers delivers. It’s the best original story Pixar has told in years, and even in light of the studio’s plans to shift more towards a ‘something for everybody, nothing for no-one’ approach going forward, this is still an adventure worth hopping into.

Should You Watch It?

Is Pixar back? I’m not sure. Is Hoppers good? Very much so. Probably on their best films since the pandemic.
