Idris Elba returns in Hijack, but this time on a train. The “why” doesn’t make sense, neither the “how”. But it’s way more entertaining that the first season.
Honestly, “Supremely silly” is the perfect way to describe this season. It may satiate Elba fans, but in the end it’s another example of too much of a good thing.
The setup? Somone is fording Elba’s Sam Nelson to become a train hijacker. The reason for it? Makes absolutely no sense and falls flat in under 20 seconds once revealed in the second half of the season.
While the 8 episodes feel way more alive and interesting this time, the ending twist and wrap up, in the season finale, is worse than a lame SNL show written by 5 years old.
So, you can essentially kidnap over 100 people in a train, make a couple of bombs explode, and still get away with it without even getting arrested? Just because you were “framed”? LOL
All in all, it’s a well-produced season, which the sloppiest story I’ve seen in a while. Getting Sam Nelson back in the wrong place at the wrong time may have seemed like a good idea for a story, but the logistics wouldn’t have mattered if the rest felt right, aka the story.
Should You Watch It?
My question after watching this season is: Why? The premise is off, and the finale is worse, but the action is better than its predecessor. So, why?
