Ironheart took its time in Marvel Television’s production hell. But the final product is good. Good enough to dismiss the last 5 minutes.
I loved Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams in Wakanda Forever. However, I wasn’t that excited for her own show. Six episodes later, I had fun, but I also forgot everything that happened.
Marvel Television’s Ironheart is not bad. It’s also not perfect. Starring opposed to Anthony Ramos, Thorne shined as the conflicted young genius wanting to make something “Iconic”. Meanwhile, Ramos’s Parker Robbin has his own devilish motivation, that is only explained in the last episode. (I call it episode because the finale felt too rushed, and too short).
When the two characters are working together, the show feels like a typical MCU formula. When they were opposing each other, I was scared for Riri. That’s how good Ramos and his gang were.
Without getting into spoilers, I’m happy that this is the last show produced before Marvel switched to typical tv. Why? It felt like an overstretched 4 hours long movie, cut into five and a half episodes.
While the story and productions are good, they could have been better. Either lean in to the comics galor and campiness, or don’t. I get that RDJ would be too expensive for a Disney Plus series, but similar to changing the origin of The Hood, we could have replaced IronMan’s legacy from the comics with…..anyone else… just to give Thorne’s character more room to breathe without being so reliant on MCU’s history.
Not a must see, but IronHeart is enjoyable enough that i’d recommend watching it when you need something light and fun.
Should You Watch It?
It’s fun, it’s interesting, it’s not must-see TV. Some heart, lots of clichés from Iron Man early movies. The ending was….out of character.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream Marvel Television’s Ironheart on Disney Plus.
