Limited Series: Ride or Die [2026] on Prime Video

Ride or Die starts as a great ride, but quickly switches to relying on familiar tropes, with half the budget, and a quarter of the jokes.

Starring Octavia Spencer & Hannah Waddingham, the two funny women juggle a rough script trying to get laughs, while maintaining a poker face and not letting us the viewers know that they hate what they’re doing.

Yes, this is light, fun show that is supposedly full of playfulness, humor and heart. And yes, there is not a lot of depth here, but the lack of plot, consistent action, and anything remotely different makes the show a tough watch. The first two episodes are decent, but the rest can’t even be saved by the two leads who try to be engaging, but end up feeling like being forced to do a SNL skit.

Overall, this is a barely C- show that is made for product placement by Amazon (and tax credits from the European Union) that doesn’t really pass the “background noise” tv check for me. Intended as a buddy action comedy, the end result (aside from the first episode) is a cringe fest that is so unbelievable, I wish Prime Video never paid for it.

If you end up finishing it, I expect you’ll be on your phone a lot of the time it’s on. And sometimes that level of mediocre feels more frustrating than a truly “bad” show.

Should you watch it?

Don’t get me wrong, Waddingham and Spencer barely make it kind of work by making their characters feel truly human despite all the antics at play. Did I watch all of the season? Yes. Do I regret doing so? Definitely.
