Movies
Quick movie, film, and documentary reviews from all around the world by and for the regular audience.
Bullet Train [2022] – Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Bullet Train is an entertaining movie without any perspective or need. You get to enjoy the sarcasm, but that’s it.
A Man Called Otto [2022] – Tom Hanks, John Higgins
A Man Called Otto has an undeniable message about looking past one’s surface to see the person inside with move even the most skeptical.
Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody [2022] – Naomi Ackie, Stanley Tucci
Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody is not perfect, but it’s one of the best musical biographies I’ve seen.
Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank [2022] – Michael Cera, Samuel L. Jackson, Ricky Gervais
Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank is an often-ungainly blend of kid-friendly animation and grown-up gags.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent [2022] – Nicolas Cage, Pedro Pascal
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent might feel like a joke. But it’s surprisingly entertaining, and not in any pretentious way.
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical [2022] – Alisha Weir, Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical takes the stage musical and crams it into a Netflix movie. The result is a musical with barely any flair.
Yves Saint Laurent [2014] – Pierre Niney, Guillaume Gallienne
Yves Saint Laurent focuses more on the struggles of the fashion icon than talent.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery [2022] – Daniel Craig, Edward Norton
Glass Onion might have kept part of the essence of Knives Out, but this Netflix sequel is barely up to par and very imbalanced.
Babylon [2022] – Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Jean Smart
Paramount’s Babylon is a visual dark and twisted love letter to Hollywood and movie making from beginning to end.
Enola Holmes 2 [2022] – Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, David Thewlis
Enola Holmes 2 is an entertaining follow-up to the original Netflix movie.
Falling for Christmas [2022] – Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet
Why?! Falling for Christmas makes you ask yourself WHY would Netflix pay for something this bad.
Disenchanted [2022] – Amy Adams, Alan Tudyk
Disney’s Disenchanted is one of those “we have a monthly output” quota kind of movies.
Violent Night [2022] – David Harbour, Beverly D’Angelo
Universal’s Violent Night is as violent as advertised. But It’s also an extremely fun Christmas movie for adults.
