Film: KPop Demon Hunters [2025] on Netflix

KPop Demon Hunters [2025] on Netflix

KPop Demon Hunters is intriguing, fun and addictive. Sony animation keeps on delivering while its live action counterpart withers.

Yes, I’m late to the Demon party, and that’s okay. But I’m happy I finally watched this movie because it’s an amazing addiction. Sony Animation is known for its visuals. No question there. But the mix of Kpop music, great animation, and cultural references is what made this bop a phenomenon.

Directed by Chris Appelhans & Maggie Kang, the mythology is nothing groundbreaking: Save the world by signing. However, it’s the way the film evolves that makes it special. It’s fresh, creatively exciting, and feels like a whole new cinema for the newer generation.

The film builds a story of love, overcoming adversity, and self-acceptance, and goes beyond the visuals by incorporating nods and representations of Korean culture often seen in anime. K-pop Demon Hunters articulates these battles in metaphor, and it also offers a giddy, glowing and eventually roaring release.

You can’t hate this film. From the catchy and addictive beats to the common themes. Almost everything about it is made to reverberate around the world, and apparently, it did.

I did not expect to love it. The action scenes, the animation, and the songs?! Incredible and so much fun. Let’s hope Netflix doesn’t meddle with its upcoming sequel, and we get a great second iteration.
