Film: Now You See Me: Now You Don’t [2025] – Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is just as breathlessly stupid, empty, yet somehow so entertaining and watchable as this series continues to embrace spectacle over substance.

The mostly famous cast is back from the first two movies. Even if we decide to skip the second one (that one was a disaster, and not the entertaining one), this movie tries to merge what worked from the first two, and setup another trilogy mostly with the new younger cast.

With Morgan Freeman written out (Sorry, spoilers), it’s probably going to be on Jesse Eisenberg to play that role now with whatever sequel they come up with. He’s fun as Atlas, but I very much prefer Dave Franco to be the center of the franchise. And yes, I can’t believe that I said I prefer a Franco brother over anyone.

Don’t get me wrong. I laughed watching this film, and I enjoyed the tricks. But taking a step back, the movie felt jumbled and sometimes directionless. And that’s normal considering that the script is credited to five different writers. So, it’s a bit of a surprise how well the story mostly all holds together in the watching.

Finally, Rosamund Pike as the villain?? Yes please. All in all, the film is absolutely ridiculous, inane, and illogical. Mostly had a great time with it, expect with the weird filler scenes trying to stitch everything together. Those were just boring and weak.

Should you watch it?

Some movies are meant to be enjoyed simply as surface level entertainment, nothing more. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t understands that and leans into it. A true popcorn flick, through and through.
