The Pitt – Season One [2025] on Crave / HBO Max

The Pitt is probably the best medical series out there that is actually about medical staff, and not a romantic drama. A perfect show about the reality of hospitals.

Starring Noah Wyle, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, and others, this show doesn’t just flirt with your worries – it drags your fears into a trauma bay, hooks them up to monitors, and lets them flatline right in front of you.

I wasn’t sure what to expect watching the trailer earlier this year. It felt like a more intense version of The Bear, but in a hospital. I was definitely wrong. Wyle is superb in this, his element. He reminds us of the series that set a distinct tone and isn’t afraid to take it in another direction. You may not want to visit the ER, but after a few episodes, you won’t want to abandon this show.

Yes, this is an intense show about saving lives in the current state of affairs, but it’s also much more. It humanizes the healthcare workers. Everyone is doing their best giving the situation. From real life examples of fentanyl overdoses to people who think they’re doctors because they googled something, to a shooting incident at a music festival. The show is structured such that you know you’ll have your heart broken and mended several times per episode — it’s just a matter of how.

To be honest, binging the whole season in two days, there was something profoundly comforting about watching a group of highly skilled adults recall an astonishing array of expert knowledge directed toward saving lives. It’s very rare these days. Just watch the news.

Should You Watch It?

With a stellar cast, its gritty, realistic look at the state of healthcare in most countries, and a relentless pace, The Pitt is simultaneously heartfelt and brutal. Can’t wait for season two early next year.
