Bad Sisters – Season One [2022]

Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ is an Irish series that grows on you. Rough in the beginning, addictive halfway through, with a surprising outcome.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at the trailer, but the series is an enthralling thrill ride that boasts an incredible amount of talent from its cast, with a horrific villain for the ages. Come for the murder mystery, stay for the family comedy.

Just when you don’t know it, this show drags you into the mind of the Garveys sisters and their schemes to try to kill their pain in the ass brother-in-law. Frankly, at some point, I was just watching to laugh at them trying to kill him, and whatever goes wrong each time. However, kudos to the writers and Claes Bang. It takes genius writing and true acting talent to make a character this repulsive and hatable.

The show offers gutsy humor, great performances, and a deeply interesting premise about the persistent, inexplicable success of terrible men and the strength and savvy of the women who put up with them – until they don’t. If you’re fantasizing about bumping off a loathed relative during family meetings and dinners, then this Sharon Horgan-led riotous black comedy will fill your stockings.

Should you watch it?

A pitch-black revenge comedy, deliciously well-cast, and hilarious at some point, Bad Sisters is a must-watch for all the dark comedy fans.
