With season two, Fallout remains a rare video game adaptation that treats its source material seriously while still remembering to have some fun.
Season two is violent in a fun way, if you’re into that kind of thing– giant explosions, lots of blood. Did it make a sense? Not at all, but that’s what’s fun about video games.
To be honest, this season suffers from the same issues other shows have, when they’re suddenly successful and renewed for second and third seasons. They stuff a lot in their second outing, to try to expand the universe as fast as possible and justify bigger budgets and further renewals.
However, between storylines that are stretched beyond their limits and decisions that feel too late, Fallout managed to maintain its identity and reaffirm its interest in exploring hope amidst devastation, without sacrificing excess or humor.
Starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten and others, this is still undeniably the same show, but Season 2 arrives with sharper teeth and a meaner sense of purpose. Did I get most of what’s going on? No. Did I care about most of what happened? Not at all? Did I enjoy it? Most definitely, but I still prefer the first season.
All in all, enough questions are answered to give a satisfying end to the season, but there’s a major promise of more to be explored and discovered on the horizon.
Should You Watch It?
Fans of the game will love season two. I never played the games, and enjoyed this season, but not as much as the first.
Where Can I Watch It?
