Hacks – Season Four [2025] on Max/Crave Canada

Season four of Hacks picks up after the explosive third outing. Slower pace, same punch. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Deborah Vance finally got her dream job! And she’s insecure enough that we spend half of this season in a catfight with Ava. It was the most annoying 4 episodes of the whole show to be honest. It’s not about the fight itself as much as how they portrayed it. Thankfully, the show course corrects halfway into the season and we get a great second half.

However, something is off with the shows season season. Similar to The Handmaid’s Tale. Episode 9 is perfection. It’s a mic drop. It could even have been a perfect series finale. Somehow, we get a lackluster episode 10 who’s whole reason is figuring out how to kickstart new storylines for next season.

Frankly, I blame the streaming business. It’s clear that the creators thought this was the finale season. So they setup the whole season based on that assumption. And somewhere during production, they got renewed. I’m happy that it happened, I’m just not a fan of the jumbled last 2 episodes.

Can’t wait for season five, and I do think it’s time to end the show on a high note. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder deserve a happy ending that doesn’t tarnish the successes they had so far.

Should You Watch It?

How can you top the last season? Turns out, you can’t. Don’t get me wrong, the show is still far better than any other 30-minute comedy out there. This season is just not as good as the previous one.
