Killing Eve – Season 4 [2022]

Killing Eve Season 4

Season four of Killing Eve was bittersweet mainly because one of the greatest series ends its run on the highest of notes. Thank you Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer.

Yes, the ending is not for everyone. The final moments of the final episode might be shocking, but it’s the perfect and memorable ending to one of the best shows on TV. Killing Eve may not be as good as it used to be when Phoebe Waller-Bridge was at the helm, but it’s still great fun. In fact, the final season is almost as good as the first one, once Villanelle wakes up from her religious fantasy.

From the moment I heard the dulcet tones of Comer’s assassin Villanelle singing like an angel, in complete choir girl garb, I fell in love with this show all over again.

However, with only eight episodes in this season, it was time to stop idling and hit the gas pedal. Sadly, the plot hinders a bit with out-of-nowhere new characters and errant plot threads. Thankfully, the driving force of the show is back in its final two episodes: The Eve and Villanelle twisted relationship. Thankfully, Comer is still on good form and Oh remains as mesmerizing as ever. But, in spite of some good jokes, I found myself wondering sometimes: What’s the point?

Thankfully, it’s still recognizably Killing Eve and it’s still kind of cool.

Should you watch it?

With an attachment as twisted and complex at its center, Killing Eve can only aim its sights on a finale that ends with a bang rather than merely a whimper. Definitely a must watch.
