The Bear – Season Five [2026] on Hulu/Disney+

Season five of The Bear confines itself mostly to the kitchen and trusts this dysfunctional chosen family to do the heavy lifting. That was a great decision.

After two messy seasons, the FX drama tries hard to redeem itself with its final payoff. All our favorite characters are back, led by Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri.

Shorter in the number of episodes, and lengths, this season is clearly not the show in its prime, but a sendoff to the anxiety filed comedy that drew us in, and set the careers of its cast on a trajectory they couldn’t have imagined. 

For a series that spent part of its run wandering through its own anxieties, this final season feels like a triumphant, hard-fought victory and a sweet redemption after a third and fourth season that wobbled more than anyone wanted to admit. There are moments here that feel every bit as thrilling, funny and moving as anything from the show’s prime. What can be said with certainty is that, in its final series, The Bear is being safe and playing the hits – and if you’re the target audience, this is a long goodbye with genuine sizzle.

To be honest, the last two seasons were confusing and all over the place. Well written and produced, but all over the place. I really liked that this final season seems to be focused on this one night, instead of meandering like the previous two seasons did. It makes the story more impactful as a closure, without giving the audience the heaviness that they got in the past two seasons.

Is it still thrilling food porn dressed up as prestige TV? And is it worth sticking around for one last, anxiety-fueled service? For the most part, yes, Chef.

Should You Watch It?

The Bear didn’t need season five. While this emotional farewell starts like a wet storm, it ends on the highest note, giving all the characters their proper stories.
