Minions & Monsters [2026] - Zoey Deutch, Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges

Minions & Monsters entertains with its cinematic nostalgia baits, even if it never quite escapes the franchise’s familiar storytelling chenaningans.

Question remains: How much Minions is enough? Apparently, the question remains unanswered. Because the fifth movie in this franchise manages the impossible: Reinventing it and being the best so far.

While the infamous yellow blobs successfully started as agent of chaos in Despicable Me, the spinoff franchise hasn’t reached the same peaks, until now. Director Pierre Coffin‘s film takes the beloved characters and actually gives them personalities. And permission to be fully fledged characters that are discovering LA in the 1920s.

Young fans may not appreciate all the movie references… Older audiences may get a kick out of the movie’s riotous first act, and those with a taste for colorful clutter may be amused by the rest. There are plenty of grown-up jokes that will have adults laughing, while the franchise still delivers all its classic kooky craziness for children. I was there for both.

In summary, this film is a high watermark for the series, and one that might serve as the catalyst for a younger generation to pick up a camera and make films with their friends.

Should You Watch It?

The best in the franchise. Directed chaos towards developing the Minions as fully fleshed out characters instead of just agents of chaos. Very entertaining film overall. Ignore the haters.
