Film: Spa Weekend [2026] – Michelle Buteau, Leslie Mann, Anna Faris

Spa Weekend is a perfect example of an old adage: that 90% of what makes a decent movie comes down to casting.

Starring Michelle Buteau, Leslie Mann, and others, this comedy film is heavily inspired by Bad Moms, missing the budget, and script refinements. That doesn’t mean that the film is not good.

While the film feels more like a long sitcom episode, the script is definitely made for one, with a lot of fillers that made no sense. Aside from that, the 4 leading ladies surely makeup for whatever the script (and the budget) lacks.

Buteau leads and shines overall, while Mann brings that messy comedic relief. Yes, this comedy has a comedic relief. I know. However, most of the audience will watch this film not for the ladies, or the story, but for shirtless Tim Ross.

Overall, it obviously depends on what you personally find funny. And yet I cannot imagine that at least some of the jokes won’t land for you. Also, you will most likely relate more to one of the four leading ladies, minus Anna Faris.

It’s sad to see the actor who was leading Mom, being relegated to a third supporting actor, with a minimal role that is also annoying and very similar to the role she played in Mom. What happened there?

Should You Watch It?

This is a film that knows its audience: middle aged people who in theory like to laugh but in practice just want to be distracted from the real world for 90 minutes or so. It’s a low bar to clear, but it just about manages it.
