The Agency – Season Two [2026] on Paramount Plus

Season two of The Agency is a tight, taut thriller that rewards your attention and knows how to manage a large ensemble without making everyone feel disposable.

Michael Fassbender is back as the conflicted spy. And even though this season focuses less on his character, he steals all the attention. This second season is a much stronger showing that improves on many of the show’s previous shortcomings, even if its slow-burn approach might still not be for everyone. It’s one of those dramas with a sleek, business-class feel that you can sink into if you’re prepared to make the effort.

Replacing the painfully slow love story this season, is a study of human character that’s much more compelling for a spy show. Season two is a chillingly negative view of human nature going rotten at the core, but weirdly compelling, nonetheless.

The A List cast delivers great performances and more.

However, what really surprised me is some of the sub-plots that the writers didn’t shy about. Season Two of The Agency is the first show I’ve ever seen that clearly, but subtly, showcases how some Arab countries are intervening in the Sudan war, and making it worse. That’s groundbreaking for a show about an American spy in England.

I hope Paramount+ brings The Agency back for another season as it is an impressive showcase for every actor and the Butterworths feel like they are building towards something truly shocking if the story were to continue… Let’s hope it keeps on going.

Should You Watch It?

If you liked the first season, you’ll love this one. A really good spy thriller with enough twists, and good performances, to keep you interested. Worth spending 10 hours with.
