Film: One Night Only [2026] – Callum Turner, Monica Barbaro

One Night Only brings a rare wild and fun romance-comedy vibe, which many new rom-coms have been lacking. Ignore the haters.

Starring Callum Turner, Monica Barbaro, and others, the film is going for neither profound nor spectacular. It’s going for warm and fun. It very much achieves that, even if it is under really bizarre circumstances.

What happens when you are single, and you can only have sex once a year, on a specific evening? Sounds like the valentine version of Gilead. Well, director Will Gluck uses that premise to deliver one of the most refreshing romantic comedies of the decade, while also commenting on the current societal affairs, and making enough money from product placements.

Speaking of ads, this film delivers one of the smartest product placements ever. Like ever. From the condoms and lubes, to others, you will know it’s a product placement, without actually being annoyed by it. You can’t day that about half the things being produced by Amazon currently.

All in all, One Night Only is messy, charming, occasionally ridiculous, and a little too much at times — but it has enough heart to win you over. Every moment of this film was enjoyable, even one gross bar scene… It’s hilarious. A complete escape from the real world, and is powered by such natural and realistic performances, it didn’t even feel like watching a film.

This is a surprisingly great movie that soars with its great performances, and very contemporary setting.
