The Morning Show – Season Four [2025] on Apple TV

While the fourth season of The Morning Show is the best since its first, it’s clear that Apple TV needs to retire this franchise because it goes sideways, even more.

While the show is on an upward trend since the disastrous second season, it’s clear that the writers and producers are running out of twists and turns for this “imaginary” network. The titular show is no longer the center of the series, and the character development stopped making sense.

For the whole of these 10 episodes, we’re focused on 3 characters, and their personal lives. Not the show, or anything related to it. Jennifer Aniston delivers a stellar performance as usual, but Reese Witherspoon is pushed to the side. Instead, we get the amazing Marion Cotillard as the new CEO of UBN. She is a powerhouse new addition to the series, and she makes an impact from the moment we meet her character.

Sadly, the script and story issues overshadow any good performances. Everything is arch, everything is melodramatic. It only plays one note, which is just noise, not music. The only joy in watching it now lies in wondering just how far they will push the boundaries of plausibility this time.

This season has predictable storylines, adorned with dialogue that borders on the ridiculous 90% of the time. While frequently entertaining, it’s far less incisive in its cultural commentary than it once was. At this point, it feels less like a show about a news network and more like a series of monologues between characters who are trying to figure out just what in the hell their jobs are and how they relate to each other.

Should You Watch It?

Increasingly, the show feels like it is moving away from a serious, if silly, drama and becoming a satire, and not a very effective one at that. It’s a good season, but it’s also time to stop.
