Season two of The Night Manager delivers on all the promises of the first outing and more. Outstanding spy show starring Tom Hiddleston.
The Night Manager season two is a show of two halves, cleaved by a big twist at the end of the third episode which changes the energy of the series. If you find the first two episodes a little dulled, just wait until that reveal.
The show was smart making a second season, almost 10 years after its first. Bringing back some of its biggest stars and moving to a rich new location, it doesn’t skip a beat as it crafts a new tale of espionage and betrayal that goes bigger and better on every level.
In this season, the spy game heats up with Hiddleston and Olivia Colman back in action and a new villain to spark political and sexual intrigue. That three-way dance with Hiddleston, Calva and Camila Morrone generate enough sizzle to singe your screen. Thing is, if it had come out a year ago, Season 2 might’ve seemed like just another far-fetched thriller set in an exotic location. These days it feels closer to a news flash.
What makes it even better is the show’s creators actually landing the finale in a way that feels satisfying regardless of getting another season or not. The ending is so good – and so thoroughly in keeping with the spirit of le Carré (writer of the book the show is based on) – that all will be forgiven, even as the world itself is damned.
Should You Watch It?
Season one was great. It worked because of its premise. However, the second season ups the ante, and we get a full-on spy revenge series that’s almost perfect.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream The Night Manager on Prime Video.
