Movies
Quick movie, film, and documentary reviews from all around the world by and for the regular audience.
Palmer [2021]
Palmer wasn’t my first choice for a Saturday evening movie, but Ryder Allen and a good performance by Justin Timberlake made it a good and powerful movie.
Coming 2 America [2021]
Eddie Murphy is announcing to the world that he’s back with Coming 2 America, a sequel to his late 1980s smash hit Coming to America! Sadly, it’s not a worthy one.
Coming to America [1988]
Eddie Murphy, star, co-writer, and co-producer has dealt audiences the movie equivalent of a royal flush. Murphy gives his sweetest, most touching, and most genuinely likable performance, playing a character who embraces society instead of holding it in contempt.
Irresistible [2020]
Written and produced by Jon Stewart, Irresistible is a political comedy about a Democratic strategist (Steve Carell) who tries to help a local candidate win an election in a small right-wing town.
Chick Fight [2020]
Chick Fight will not win any awards this year. Also, it doesn’t have to. It’s actually a great entertainment and background noise when you’re doing chores during covid lockdowns.
The Banker [2020]
During the whole 2 hours, not once did I lose interest or enjoyment in it.
I Care A Lot [2021]
Rosamund Pike (Marla Grayson) and Peter Dinklage (Roman Lunyov) do excellent work in I Care A Lot, but they’re acting in a story that doesn’t give the audience anyone to root for.
Papillon [2018]
Don’t get me wrong, the actors (all of them, not just Charlier and Rami) were great. But this version of the movie falls a tiny bit behind the 1973 one.
Soul [2020]
With Soul, Pixar has raised the bar so high. Just when I thought that “inside out” was one deep film, Soul comes shattering that idea.
Listen [2017]
Listen! Finally, a decent Lebanese movie that is not about the civil war and it’s not a complete joke.
Greenland [2020]
Gerard Butler is here to save the world once again. But this science fiction thriller achieves a small impact compared to its “extinction level” comets.
