Film: Over Your Dead Body [2026] – Kayla Radomski, Jason Segel, Nikolai Kinski

Over Your Dead Body starts boring and slow. Bu the second it picks up, it turns into a worthy spiritual sequel to Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Starring Kayla Radomski & Jason Segel, this Prime Video film is a remake of a Swedish film that is clearly made for TV, but doesn’t look like it, thankfully.

The first act can be from any film or series, and boring as hell. But the film picks up straight in the second act, with different perspectives on “how we got there”, which shakes it up a bit. However, I felt that it was at its very best in the third act, when it practically becomes a comedy-slasher. Of course, ending on a high note is always so much better than starting strong and ending with nothing.

There are moments here that are so shockingly repugnant, laughter leapt from my esophagus in an act of self-preservation. But also, there are moments when It takes both the gore, and the comedy, all the way up. That’s where the film is at its best.

John Wick meets the original Mr & Mrs Smith, meets Riff Raff, Over Your Dead Body is sharply made, with a dry, cynical bite that keeps it puckish and playful. The toxic marriage genre lives to die another day.

Should you watch it?

There’s not a lot of substance here. A couple bored of their marriage, decide to kill each other. Seen it, too many times. While it’s not particularly subversive or original (the destination is never in doubt), it is a good, bloody, unpretentious good time.
