The Wild Robot is a stunning wild ride of great visuals mixed with one of the most amazing life lessons. I should have watched it in theaters!
Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor, this is a movie about a robot learning how to be human. Yes, the idea is bonkers, but writer and director Chris Sanders somehow made it work, in an emotional and visually stunning movie.
Oscar-nominated for Best Animation, Sound and Original Score, this movie is a stunning animated tale filled with warmth as a robot discovers motherhood. Yes, sometimes it tries a bit too hard to tug your heartstrings, and surprisingly it workes. I laughed hard, I almost cried, and I wanted a robot of my own.
Few movies have the power to evoke such strong emotions, and this movie is a treasure trove of valuable life lessons for everyone. Movies like this don’t need to change the narrative wheel, they provide a familiar yet effective effect for the whole family. Try not to feel something in the final scenes of the movie.
In fact, this movie stands out as a particularly strong film for DreamWorks Animation, which historically struggled to keep the pace with their competitors. Ever since Shrek, Dreamworks had more downs than ups. This one is definitely a winner!
