Hacks sticks the landing, and then some. A perfect ending to a perfect season to a great show. You will be missed!
Let’s be honest, it’s very rare to have a good show that a lot of people agree with in the streaming era. It’s about content now, not art.
Surprisingly, Hacks manages to win on almost every front. Since the first season, all the way to its final one, the show brought heart, comedy, social commentary, and managed to stay relevant while also delivering one joke after another.
This season is a masterclass in writing. And how to land a finale. With this season, the show giving Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder the chance to leave a mark on the history of television. Behind their incredible performances, Season 5 is one of the year’s best shows once again.
While its original plot was about the work. The show has evolved into something ageless. This season, and the show as a whole, argues that the work itself is not that important, and perhaps even fundamentally meaningless, without all the people who go into making it. And that’s something everyone can get behind.
Should You Watch It?
This show lives alongside its lead characters, inviting us into their worldview so that we never want to leave. That’s another hallmark of a great sitcom, and Season 5 leaves no doubt that Hacks belongs among the greats.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream all seasons of Hacks exclusively on HBO Max in USA and Crave in Canada.
