Captain America: Brave New World [2025] – Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez

Captain America: Brave New World is disappointing…to say the least. However, it has three standouts in Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.

Starring Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Brave New World was pitched to us, the viewers, as continuation of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And to be honest, the whole movie feels like a long overdrawn final episode of that show.

However, someone forgot to give Marvel the memo that they’re basically making a sequel to their Disney Plus show. Instead, the movie is actually a sequel to The Incredible Hulk from 2008, minus well, THE HULK.

As you may or may not know the movie had a lot of production issues, including rewrites and extensive reshoots. And it shows. From a blurry Giancarlo Esposito on what’s clearly a greenscreen, to the forced subplot of Adimentium via the giant celestial from Eternals who everyone forgot about for the last 3 years, until suddenly, out of nowhere, we make a movie about a conflict to mine it, without actually doing anything with it. Weird, eh?

It represents the MCU on autopilot, and while that means everything runs smoothly, it never goes anywhere particularly interesting. Somewhere, buried beneath all this plot, is an interesting movie struggling to breathe.

Should you watch it?

Captain America feels like a supporting character in his own movie. Remove him and the movie wouldn’t change much. What should be a thrilling comic book blockbuster instead plays out like a condensed, clunky version of an anticlimactic, made-for-Disney+ series.
