While season two refreshes the cast, The Pitt is still one of the best medical dramas out there by far.
While the first season had the benefit of well, being the first, this version of the show is more grounded, but also more ready for tv. All the stuff that the show was very good at in season 1 is still here in season 2. but some new themes of burnout, and ethics.
I really don’t want this show to go downhill very quickly. I love it and I want it to run for at least five seasons. That’s like 20 seasons in the streaming era.
However, something needs to be adjusted for the next outing. Sure, The Pitt is just a TV show, and there are millions of them. But it is a reminder that there is another way, a different path that we could take, if we want to.
Thing is, this season works thanks to its foundations, especially due to Wyle’s outstanding performance, but it falters when trying to inject new energy that never quite flows smoothly. I just prefer the soul and vibe of the first season, with the drama, character development, and “family” connections of this one.
I’m greedy, I know.
Should You Watch It?
The show’s second season, hinged on [Noah] Wyle’s gut punch of a spiral, proves that you can stretch this formula out as far as you want as long as you honor the grounded foundation.
Where Can I Watch It?
The Pitt is streaming on Crave in Canada and HBO Max everywhere else.
