My Son Jeffrey: The Dahmer Family Tapes starts by justifying Dhamer. Yes, you read it correctly. However, the last two episodes make this true crime documentary bearable.
What “good” can you say about a serial killer who also ate some of his victims? Apparently, stuff that is worth a full episode. This docuseries uses tapes never heard before recorded by Dhamer’s father, mixed with archival family footage, to….do something. Im just not sure what.
This 4-episode series bitches itself as a true crime documentary. Yet, for some reason, spends at least half of its run time giving Jeffrey excuses for why he did what he did. It only remembers the victims halfway through episode three. Which is sad.
Let me put it this way, Netflix did more justice to the victims and their families with their series than anything this “docuseries” could ever do. This Fox Nation series missed a crucial thing in their production: Serial killers are bad regardless of what got them there. Do not even try to justify them.
Should You Watch It?
The material is there. It’s just used for the wrong reasons. Instead of siding with the victims, My Son Jeffrey clearly sides with the killer for most of the runtime.
Where Can I Watch It?
